I heard the author, Ron Alford, on a radio interview – AFTER I had an accident. If I’d read this BEFORE it happened – I probably would have saved a lot of time, money and problems, because I would have known how to manage the whole process. It’s a great book. Rating: 5 / 5

This book explains the real deal on how to deal with a collision from the insurance company to the body shop, repaired or total loss. No smoking mirrors here.

This book taught me nothing… the reviews suggest it offers some useful insight into dealing with insurers, but it never delivers! If you are diligent enough to be concerned about your insurance in the first place, you are most likely already aware/capable of ALL the tips offered in this book. One particularly irritating aspect of the book is that it dangles a carrot of REAL information (ratings of some insurance companies), but then directs you to the author’s website to get it (where you can only get the information for a fee)!!! What’s the point of buying this book, then?! Here’s a BIG TIP, folks – insurance companies make money on the insured, so BE CAREFUL in dealing with them (and don’t waste time with this book{is it a book, or a ad for the author’s website?}). Joy Loverde’s guide was like having a personal advocate walking along side me and my family as we cared for aging parents. Not only was every issue addressed in a practical manner, it was obcvious that Ms. Loverede cares deepley for elders and those assisting them. I recommend this as a must read to everyone. I know they will find answers to their questions and be blessed along the way. Rating: 5 / 5

I have just completed reading this book and for the first time I know what coverage I have and what type of protection it provides! I took out my insurance policy and went over it step by step. What an eye opener this was. I highly recommend this book for anyone interested in knowing the truth. These guys really seem to be interested in helping others to understand their auto insurance. This book continues to be the first place I refer people who ask me what to do for their aging parents. Having been in the senior living industry for nearly 25 years, I know what people need to look for. But I still encourage the many people who ask my advice to start with Joy’s book! The last person I directed to the book told me that she had no idea just how helpful the information would be before she read it and that she agreed that it was a “must read” before even starting to look for senior living options for her parents. the price is definitely a significant factor to consider.

at the end of the day i have to admit i was a bit disappointed. i was hoping for a comprehensive overview of the industry. however, a large chunk of of the book is devoted to providing information on select insurance companies. it appears a bit redundant, provided that the same data is available on the accompanying CD-ROM.
to be fair, they did provide a good overview of the latest trends in the industry, but that took only a few pages.

CD-ROM, was also a bit of a disappointment. the data provided therein can be easily stored on a single xls file. instead, i had to install plunkett software and jumped through hoops to extract the info i needed.
the data itself looked a bit outdated. Customer service acknowledged that, but would not provide the latest version of CD-ROM for free, despite the fact that i had bought the book only a few days ago.

for almost $300 one would expect the data/info to be more recent and comprehensive, and the service to be more accommodating. Rating: 2 / 5
